The Indian benchmark indices started on a positive note on the first trading day of the new year(3rd January 2022) and were up by 0.6 percent. The BSE Sensex was at 58, 587, up 334 points, while the Nifty50 was at 17,464, 110 points higher.
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were also in the green and were up 0.5 and 0.8 percent.
Among the Sensex-30 constituents, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Wipro, Asian Paints, HCL tech, PowerGrid, Infosys, NTPC, Titan, RIL were the top gainers, up 0.6-1 percent. While Ultratech Cement and M&M were the losers.
All sectoral indices were also positive except pharma.
