PM Narendra Modi withdraws 3 farm laws, says govt had 'good faith'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 9 am today(19th Nov.2021), announcing a repeal of the three contentious farm laws that farmers' have been protesting for more than a year. Addressing the nation on the occasion of Guru Purab, PM Modi said the three laws will be repealed in the winter session of Parliament starting later this month. "The three laws were in the benefit of farmers but we could not convince a section of them despite our best efforts", the PM said, adding that he was not laying the blame for this on anyone on an auspicious day. He said the three laws, against which tens of thousands of farmers have been holding strong protests for more than a year, were brought to empower farmers, especially the small farmers. Read more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (8th February 2021) slammed those calling agitating Sikh farmers names, saying it won't do the country any good as he went on to appeal to the protesting farmers to withdraw they are over two-month-long stir and give the new agriculture reform laws a chance. He also slammed the politics over the farm laws, saying opposition parties were mum over the reasons for the agitation. Punning on the term FDI, which stands for Foreign Direct Investment, Modi said a new thing of FDI has emerged in India, which he said was Foreign Destructive Ideology."We need to be more aware to save the country from such an ideology," he said while replying to a discussion in Rajya Sabha on a motion thanking the President for his address to the joint sitting of Parliament at the start of the Budget session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation today on the occasion of 74th Independence Day said that an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' would be economically stronger which would lead to more peace and financial stability across the region."Many nations are watching India as a centre for their supply-chain operations. Now, we have to internalise the motto of ‘Make for the world’ alongside ‘Make in India’." he said. "The world is interconnected and interdependent now. Therefore, India's contribution to the global financial system should rise. This is India's duty towards global development.
