At close, the Sensex was down 254.33 points or 0.43% at 59,413.27, and the Nifty was down 37.30 points or 0.21% at 17,711.30. NTPC was the top Sensex gainer, followed by PowerGrid, Sun Pharma, and SBI. HDFC, Ultratech Cement, and Asian Paints were the worst performing Sensex stocks. About 1830 shares have advanced, 1371 shares declined, and 151 shares are unchanged. The power, metal, pharma, and realty indices added 1-3.5 percent, while selling was seen in the auto, bank, capital goods, FMCG names.
