The Indian benchmark indices made a strong start today(19th January 2021), tracking firm cues from other Asian markets.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose 350 points and hovered near 48,900 levels. The index hit an intra-day high of 49,060. The broader Nifty50 index held above 14,400. Bajaj Finance and IndusInd Bank (both up 2%) were the top Sensex gainers. Besides, Reliance Industries, HDFC, and Maruti Suzuki were also trading over 1 percent, each.
Among other individual stocks, shares of Mindtree gained 4 percent after the company's consolidated net profit jumped 65.7 percent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 326.5 crore in the December 2020 quarter.
The trend among Nifty sectoral indices was positive, with the Nifty Realty index, up 2.2 percent, leading the list of gainers.
