In Indian markets, the benchmark indices fluctuated between gains and losses today(9th Oct.2020) as RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das began the monetary policy address.
The S&P BSE Sensex dipped 50 points to 40,140 levels after earlier rising to 40,320 levels. The Nifty50 index, meanwhile, hovered around 11,850-mark. Tata Steel (up 2%), Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, and Mahindra & Mahindra (all up 1%) were the top Sensex gainers. On the other hand, TCS and Reliance Industries slipped 0.7 percent, each.
Besides, Lakshmi Vilas Bank surged 15 percent after the bank received an indicative non-binding offer from the Clix Group.
The Nifty sectoral indices were trading largely in the green, led by the Nifty Metal index, up 1 percent.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were trading 0.3 percent, each.
Five companies including Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers, and Steel Strips Wheels are scheduled to announce their quarterly earnings today.
