MARKET UPDATE: Sensex rose 180 points to 53,700, and the NSE Nifty50 advanced 60 points to 16,031

The Indian markets started today's(14 July 2022) session with tepid gains as investors digested a 41-year high retail inflation in the US at 9.1 percent for June. The BSE Sensex rose 180 points to 53,700, and the NSE Nifty50 advanced 60 points to 16,031. Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Titan, Nestle, L&T, HUL, Power Grid, and Dr. Reddy were the top winners of the Sensex. Apollo Hospitals, Tata Consumer, and Britannia were additional gainers on the Nifty. On the other hand, SBI, Axis Bank, ITC, Tata Steel, and JSW Steel were among the handful of index losers. The broader markets also opened in green. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were up to 0.11 percent higher.
Nifty healthcare led gains among sectors, rising 1.2 per cent. FMCG and consumer durables were other notable gainers, up 0.5 per cent each. While Nifty PSB fell the most, IT pack was also weak.
Among stocks, Tata Metaliks tanked 6 per cent on reportina 99 per cent decline in its net profits. Its margins dropped to 3.5 per cent from over 25 per cent a year ago.Sanofi India rose over 4 per cent. The company will consider a special dividend on July 26.
