MARKET UPDATE: Sensex fell 66 points to 62,780, and the NSE Nifty50 slipped 15 points to 18,583

Opening Bell: Indian equity benchmark indices opened nearly flat today(30 May 2023) tracking the quiet mood across global markets as investors remain on the sidelines ahead of US lawmakers' key vote on lifting the debt limit. The BSE Sensex fell 66 points to 62,780, and the NSE Nifty50 slipped 15 points to 18,583. The broader markets, meanwhile, outperformed benchmarks. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose up to 0.18 percent versus the nearly flat BSE Sensex index.
Nestle, SBI, TCS, Bajaj Finserv, M&M led losses on the Sensex, while Hindalco and SBI Life were the top Nifty losers.
On the flip side, HCL Tech, ITC, Kotak Bank, Titan, Wipro, NTPC and Adani Enterprises were among the few frontline gainers, u 0.5-1 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty Metal was the only losing pocket, down 0.2 per cent. Realty index was flat, while others held slim gains.
Among stocks, Hikal jumped 11 per cent on reporting a 74 per cent on-year rise in its Q4 profit to Rs 36 crore.
