MARKET UPDATE: Sensex down 150 points to 62,414 and theNifty slipped 50 points to 18,550 levels

Indian equity markets pared early gains to turn into the negative zone today (9 December 2022) despite strength in global markets. The BSE Sensex was down 150 points to 62,414 and the NSE Nifty50 slipped 50 points to 18,550 levels. HCL Tech was the biggest loser on the Sensex, down over 5 percent, followed by Tech M and Infosys. Reports said HCL Tech expects its FY23 constant currency revenue at the lower end of its guidance at 13.5 percent.
The broader markets, meanwhile, outweighed the frontline indices. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose up to 0.5 percent.
Sectorwise, the Nifty PSB index built on yesterday's gain and rallied 1.5 per cent. Metal, FMCG, and Auto pockets were other top gainers, while the IT index slipped over 1 per cent.
